Edited Firm photo for website

In March of 2025, the highly controversial provocateur left Romania and arrived in Florida. He announced that he plans to make the state his permanent home. On March 29th, 2025, ABC News reported that Mr. Tate is facing a new civil sexual assault lawsuit from a former partner. Within this article, our West Palm Beach sexual assault and battery lawyer highlights key points to know about the case and the law.

Allegations: Civil Sexual Assault Lawsuit Filed Against Andrew Tate

In March of 2025, Andrew Tate—a controversial social media influencer and former professional kickboxer—was sued by his ex-girlfriend, Brianna Stern. The civil sexual assault claim was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The lawsuit alleges both sexual assault and battery during their 10-month relationship.

Notably, Ms. Stern alleges that on March 10th, 2025, what had been a consensual sexual encounter escalated when Mr. Tate became verbally degrading, choked her until she nearly lost consciousness, and beat her. According to the civil lawsuit. Ms. Stern was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome following the incident.

For his part, Andrew Tate denies wrongdoing through his legal representative. The civil lawsuit adds to his considerable existing legal challenges. In Romania, he and his brother, Tristan, face serious criminal charges, including human trafficking and even forming a criminal gang for the purpose of  sexually exploiting women. Both brothers deny the charges in Romania.

Sexual Assault Victims Can Hold Perpetrator Legally Liable in Florida

Sexual assault is a serious criminal offense. A person who commits an act of sexual violence can be arrested and charged with a felony in Florida. Beyond the criminal justice system, victims can also take action to get justice through a civil claim. Notably, the primary remedy through a civil sexual assault claim is financial compensation. The law allows survivors to seek monetary compensation for damages, including medical expenses, therapy costs, lost wages, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma. A civil lawsuit can be filed directly against the perpetrator.

Beyond that, third parties in Florida may also potentially be held liable for sexual assault. If their negligence contributed to the circumstances that allowed the assault to occur, they may face responsibility. For example, schools, correctional institutions, property owners, employers, and security companies may all be deemed responsible for the attacks that happened, at least in part, because of their negligence.
