According to a report from WFLA, a toll booth operator was killed in a terrible truck accident in North Florida. The pickup truck reportedly crashed into the toll booth. Devastating Crash: Truck Strikes Toll Booth in North Florida
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, a fatal truck crash happened at approximately 12:40 p.m. on June 1st, 2026. The deadly incident happened at Dunlawton Avenue beach access ramp in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida. A pickup truck was reportedly traveling eastbound and struck an occupied beach ramp toll booth. The truck then continued onto the beach and went into the ocean. The toll attendant, identified as 63-year-old Tammie Jo Baker, was tragically killed.
Law enforcement later identified the driver as a woman named Deanna Harrell. According to NBC Miami, Ms. Harrell was arrested on June 3rd, 2026, on charges of vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter. The news organization also reported that a judge ordered Ms. Harrell to be held without bond. Volusia County also installed new barriers at the Dunlawton Avenue beach entrance after the crash. The crash remains under a more comprehensive investigation by the authorities.
