A Serious Miami Jet Ski Accident is Still Being Investigated

Two individuals were hospitalized following a personal watercraft accident near Virginia Key. According to preliminary reports, both the Miami Police Department and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were at the scene of the accident. It occurred shortly before 5:00 PM on the afternoon of March 25th. Given the severity of the injuries sustained by the victims, air rescue was dispatched. The jet ski accident is still under a more comprehensive investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

What to Do After a Boat Accident in South Florida

Watercraft accidents—from private boat accidents to commercial boat accidents to jet ski accidents—have the potential to be extremely dangerous, even life-threatening. If you’re involved in a boat accident, it is essential to know what steps to take in the aftermath. Here are four things to do after a boating accident in South Florida:

  1. Seek Emergency Medical Care: Your safety and well-being should always come first. After a boat accident, immediately assess your own injuries and the condition of any passengers on board. If anyone is hurt, call for emergency medical assistance right away.
  2. Report the Boat Accident to Authorities: In Florida, you must report any boat accident that results in injury, death, or significant property damage to the appropriate authorities. Depending on the location and circumstances, this may include the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the local sheriff’s office, or the local police department.
  3. Document What Happened: Take photographs of the accident scene, the damaged vessels, and any visible injuries. Gather contact information from any witnesses, as well as the names and insurance information of the other parties involved in the accident. If possible, write a detailed account of what occurred while the events are still fresh in your memory.
  4. Consult WIth a Miami Personal Injury Lawyer: Navigating the legal complexities of a boat accident can be challenging, especially when dealing with insurance companies, medical bills, and the potential for long-term consequences. A Miami personal injury lawyer experienced in handling boating accidents can help protect your rights and ensure you receive fair compensation
